Science Fair

The Cariboo/Mainline Regional Science Fair is open to elementary and secondary students from School Districts 27, 58, 73 and 74, as well as students from independent schools.

The Regional Fair began for us in 1988. For several years the Fair rotated from district to district, being hosted in school gyms and sports centres. Later, Cariboo College (now Thompson Rivers University) played host to the event and in the 1990s TRU became the Fair’s home. TRU has been most generous with providing the Fair a venue and support in addition to scholarships for deserving students.

To enter the Science Fair, students design an investigation into an aspect of science, and then they create a display board summarizing their work and findings. Most students would enter their project into a school and/or district fair from which they would be selected for the Regional Fair.

Each year a group of students from the Cariboo/Mainline Regional Science Fair are selected to attend the Canada-Wide Science Fair.
